Vision

Oconee Streams exists to expand mental health support in Oconee County, South Carolina. While Foothills Family Counseling provides counseling services and educational workshops that strengthen individuals and families, Oconee Streams focuses on reaching at-risk populations and equipping advocates to build a stronger, healthier community for generations to come.

Our vision is to establish stable, long-term access to quality mental health care for all residents of Oconee County—especially those in rural and underserved communities. We aim to see a county where competent, compassionate, and Christ-centered clinicians serve with consistency, excellence, and heart.

We recognize that Oconee County’s beauty comes with unique challenges: limited transportation, spread-out communities, and restricted access to care. Oconee Streams seeks to bridge these gaps by expanding service locations, offering outreach to rural areas, and developing mobile initiatives—such as a van to serve local schools and provide transportation to counseling appointments.

Beyond access, we are committed to education. Through early childhood development training, community workshops, and psychoeducation for parents, guardians, and service providers, we work to build understanding and resilience at every level.

Our long-term vision is a connected, compassionate network of care—one where collaboration across churches, schools, law enforcement, and local organizations ensures that every person, from child to elder, has the support they need to thrive. By investing in both people and partnerships, Oconee Streams strives to strengthen families, equip caregivers, and cultivate a culture of mental wellness that flows through every corner of our county.

Strategy

1. Securing Funding for Consistent Access

We work to acquire and distribute funds that make counseling services accessible and consistent for those who need them most. By investing in at-risk and underserved populations, we aim to establish long-term stability in mental health care throughout Oconee County.

2. Growing Christ-Centered Clinicians

Our mission depends on people. We are committed to recruiting, training, and supporting competent, compassionate, and Christ-centered clinicians who serve with integrity and empathy. This includes providing opportunities for LPC-A’s and counseling interns to grow and stay rooted in the community they serve.

3. Building a Network of Partners

We believe collaboration is the key to community transformation. Oconee Streams partners with churches, schools, educators, law enforcement, and other local organizations to identify areas of greatest need and to ensure services reach those who might otherwise go unseen.

4. Providing Free and Accessible Education

Education empowers prevention. Through free workshops and psychoeducational events held in strategic locations across the county, we help families, caregivers, and community leaders better understand mental health and the tools needed to care for themselves and others.

Making Waves for Change in Oconee County: one phase at a time.

  • Phase 1 : Booking Workshops

This first phase is all about building awareness and opening doors for change.
Through community and family workshops, we’re educating Oconee County about the importance of mental health, breaking stigma, sparking conversations, and paving the way for progress.

At the same time, we’re raising funds and building partnerships with individuals and organizations who share our passion for compassionate, accessible, Christ-centered care.

  • Phase 2 : Building the Provider Network

In this next phase, Oconee Streams will begin onboarding 2–3 providers to serve individuals in our community.
This pilot program will help us establish effective systems, refine best practices, and ensure that care is both compassionate and accountable.

Our goals in this phase are to:

Provide effective, high-quality treatment to those in need

Balance reimbursement and accountability to sustain providers

Keep stakeholders informed and engaged as we grow

Through this foundation, we’ll prepare to expand services and make consistent, Christ-centered mental health care accessible throughout Oconee County.

  • Phase 3 : Growing the Network

With a strong foundation in place, Oconee Streams will move into expansion — growing our network and strengthening the systems that intake, serve, and send out those connected to our mission.

    This phase focuses on empowering:

Individuals in need of care, providing ongoing access to quality treatment

Groups that can grow through workshops and community learning, becoming advocates for mental wellness

Providers who align with our goals and vision, ensuring Christ-centered, compassionate care across Oconee County

Through this growth, we believe we’ll see a county transformed — one where families are strengthened, access to care is consistent, and hope flows freely through every community.
